Virtual Museum

The mission of The World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store is to educate the general public about the history, service, goals and initiatives of Little League Baseball and Softball.

This has been accomplished through a conscientious effort to obtain and curate artifacts and archival materials pertaining to the organization. These artifacts are organized for research and educational purposes and used in interpretive displays which can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages.

The Museum opened in 1982. It was closed from September 1, 2012 until June 6, 2013 during which time it underwent a major renovation. The museum re-opening kicks off a 14-month celebration of Little League’s 75th anniversary, culminating with the Little League Baseball World Series in August 2014.

The focus of the museum has shifted from simply telling the story of Little League’s past to a more dynamic presentation of how Little League has intertwined with U.S. and world history, and even help to shape it. The museum tells the reasons Little League has become the world’s largest and most respected youth sports program.

The Little League story unfolds in an exhibit response that flows directly from the concept of a six inning Little League game. The exhibits are comprised of a rich mixture of authentic Little League heritage, artifacts and images, cutting-edge interactive and immersive media. All of this combines to bring home the global mission and experience of Little League Baseball and Softball.

At the entrance to the museum is the Little League Official Store. Patrons wishing to experience the museum, as well as those who simply want to shop for merchandise and souvenirs are welcomed throughout the year.
